~size H crochet hook

ch=chain fo=fasten off hdc=half double crochet
rnd= round sc=single crochet sl st = slip stitch
st(s)=stitch or stitches 2sctog = sc 2 stitches together dc= double crochet
yo = yarn over ( ) or [ ] = repeat enclosed, number of times indicated after
reverse sc= sc in stitch to the right of last sc, instead of to the left

~Do not join pieces that are crocheted in the round unless otherwise indicated in each individual pattern piece
~A stitch marker will come in handy when repeating rounds or another helpful way to keep track of your rounds is to, start all pieces with a long tail, pull the tail through the beginning stitch of each round.

with size H crochet hook and red
1: ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook
2: sc 2 in each sc (12) change to white
3: (sc in next sc, sc 2 in next) around (18)
4: (sc in each of next 2, sc 2 in next) around (24) change to red
5: (sc in each of the next 3, sc 2 in next) around (30)

1: rejoin white yarn with sl st in center back st, sc in same and each st around, FO
ties (both sides)
1: rejoin white yarn with sl st in center stitch at bottom of ear flap, ch 20, FO
Add a pom-pom or tassel to the top of hat. To make tassels, wrap yarn around 3 fingers held together about 6-8 times. Cut a small piece of yarn, tie in center, cut another small piece, wrap around top just a little bit down from top, tie tight knot, trim ends and tie onto end of chain.
