What's New The Week of September 8th

The weather here has been beautiful and I've been crocheting up a storm. There's a new leaflet in the works and I can't wait to tell you more about it, but for now this is all I can show you. I'll be sure to give you more information as soon as I can.

What's In The Making This Week

Besides cleaning the new loom, there are definitely some things in the making. My new kangaroo is in the testing phase and hopefully will be available soon. There is some talk about a second leaflet (shhh, not ready yet) and more huggy lovey blankets in the works. 

Grab that crochet hook, the holidays will be here before you know it (sorry, don't want to rush things, but it's true). 

New Loom At My House

I have to thank my kids for introducing me to Craig's List. I was a little hesitant at first, but I quickly sold my old furniture with only a few spam emails. Last week I went to the Midwest Folk and Fiber show and couldn't help noticing (touching and envying) all the beautiful weaving. 

Buying a new one was definitely out of the question since I already have a houseful of yarn, a wheel and table loom (paper, pens, etc). Just for kicks, I decided to check Craig's List for any looms in my area. Well darn, there it was a 40" Norwood Cherry Loom. Thought okay this is to good to be true, made arrangements to see it that day and picked it up that evening. Now, let's see if I can use it. My daughter hasn't been out of the house very long, but her room has definitely been filled. Poor kid and thank goodness for my understanding hubby.

Summer

Hope everyone is enjoying some nice Summer weather. It has been beautiful here this week. I finally got rid of the patio table and got the outdoor set I've been wanting. Love sitting outside with my coffee, yarn and crochet hooks. Think the dogs love it almost as much.

Oh Those Websites

Hope everyone is enjoying some nice weather. It's been beautiful here this week so I'm going to try not to sound grumpy. Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who lets me know when they see one of my patterns being offered or shared somewhere it isn't suppose to be. Yes, it happens (alot) and I promise I'm not going to go into a big bout of "it isn't right", "it is stealing" and so on. I just wanted to tell everyone what I've discovered about a couple of these sites (the ones I'm talking about are all international, free, sharing and forum sites, naming them could be defined as "harressing"). Anyway, everytime I have gone on these sites and registered (you have to be a member to comment, makes sense, they want to know who you are and get your information) in order to ask them to "immediately" remove my patterns and/or images my computer seems to slow down. 

Now maybe this is a coincidence, I am definitely not very computer savy, but when I run a scan, I find tracking cookies, this has happened several times, not just once so I'm pretty convinced it isn't a coincidence. Anyway, it may be nothing, but just in case I wanted to give a heads up to those out there who may be just browsing or visiting these sites for the first time, as for those who are visiting them and happily sharing or taking (I really mean stealing, oops a little grumpy), not just my patterns or images, but lots of other designers as well, maybe what goes around, does come around. Oh darn, that might have sounded grumpy again, sorry about that. Well, sort of. 

Anyway thanks for letting me vent a little and for those of you browsing the web without any bad intentions, please be careful.

New Petal Baby Blanket and First Bear Crochet Pattern

Perfect for that new baby. Pattern includes detailed instructions for blanket (approx. 35 x 40") and a baby's first bear. Lots of pictures and tips to help you finish your blanket and bear. Bear has stitched eyes and blanket is soft and washable, perfect for lots of hugs. 


Sample was made with Caron Simply Soft Baby Yarn (lovely by the way) in Tiny Sprite, My Princess, Baby Pink and My Sunshine. You will need 3 skeins of Tiny Sprite and 2 skeins of each of the other colors to finish both the blanket and bear. Uses a size F (3.75 mm) and size I (5.5 mm) crochet hook. 
Skill level = advanced beginner/intermediate. Bear is crocheted in the round. 
Since a different color is used for each individual row in the blanket there are a lot of ends to weave in, but the ending results are worth the extra work.

Sometimes You Have To Set It Aside

For several weeks now I have been working on a knitting pattern (not my first attempt at writing up a knitting pattern) and as much as I love to knit, I'm frustrated. I have definitely done more un-knitting then knitting so it's time to put it aside (for another day) and get back to crocheting. 

I picked up and got back to work on a sweet baby blanket that has been patiently waiting for me in the basket next to my chair. It's almost ready for the border. I love the soft sweet colors and can't wait to share the pattern with you. I might add a small softie to go with it. Just not sure what the little softie will be yet. I'll keep you posted.
